Like it or not, winter is coming. That means now is the time to get your vehicle ready to survive cold temperatures and icy roads. Not sure what to do? Here’s how to prepare your vehicle for winter.
- Get an oil change and tire rotation: Regular maintenance is important for the longevity of your vehicle — and your safety. Use this changing season as a reminder to get your scheduled oil change and tire rotation at Union Park Buick GMC. While we rotate your tires, we can check your tire tread depth to make sure they will last all winter.
- Test your brakes and battery: If you bring your vehicle in for an inspection, we can also test your brake and battery performance to make sure you will have enough stopping power in wet, wintry conditions and a battery strong enough to survive the cold.
- Ensure visibility: If your windshield wipers are leaving streaks, replace the blades before the next big blizzard. Also, make sure you have good visibility in the dark — and that others can see you — by checking all your exterior lights, including headlights, tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals.
- Pack an emergency kit: Your vehicle emergency kit should include jumper cables, a retractable shovel, snacks, water, a flashlight, batteries, blankets, hats, gloves, coats, and a phone charger.
