Recently at the Shanghai Auto Show, Buick unveiled a new SUV for the Chinese market, the all-new Buick Encore GX. The all-new Encore GX features a longer wheelbase than the current Buick Encore subcompact crossover. The new Chinese model didn’t just stir up excitement in Asia, though — it will soon be available in the States as well. Given the current popularity of Buick SUVs including the 2019 Enclave, Encore, and Envision, the all-new Buick Encore GX is sure to add even more appeal to the brand’s lineup.
Sources has also said that the all-new Buick Encore GX will be available in the US alongside the current, more compact version of the Encore we’re familiar with, adding more options for American drivers to find the Buick SUV that is just right for them.
So far, it appears the current generation Encore and the all-new Encore GX boast similar features and diverge mainly in that the new GX sports a stretched-out wheelbase. The longer Encore GX features the same styling cues as the standard wheelbase version. It’s not clear when the longer wheelbase Encore GX will be available in the US, or if it will keep the GX nameplate, but it goes to show that Buick is still revitalizing its SUV and crossover lineup.
